We are a traditional English Country pub set in beautiful countryside.
Over the last year we have made many changes to enhance the original features and update the indoor and outside space. The once old and dated interior is now clean, fresh and cosy offering a comfortable place to enjoy a drink or meal. Enjoy a walk over Chorleywood Common or just come and sit and appreciate the view. We serve real ales, a wide selection of draft lagers, hand selected excellent wines and a Gin menu we are proud to rave about!! That’s not even mentioning the Cocktails on tap. And if we haven’t got it, ask for it and we’ll have it next time you come in!
Our Chef has created a menu combining traditional classics, an extensive burger selection and many vegan options. You can enjoy a bar snack or salad, a Steak or Seabass and you can’t beat our Sunday lunch. We support local suppliers and only use the best ingredient’s cooked freshly to order.

FOOD & DRINK
The Black Horse has built a solid reputation for providing the best dining out experience in the local area. We are often booked up for many weeks in advance, with mostly repeat guest visits. Our guests enjoy traditional pub meals, as well as some of our unique and contemporary dishes.
Serving the best food is our first priority, we are passionate about what we do, investing our efforts in all the little details. Our main menu is extensive with lots of choice for everyone. We offer a range of seasonal vegan food, which is freshly prepared daily. Our roast dinners are real show stoppers, the meat is delicious and the homemade Yorkshire puddings are huge!
Locally Sourced
Most of our suppliers are within a 20 miles radius, we thoroughly support and enjoy partnering up with local businesses.
Chiltern Fish and Game – our delicious freshly beer battered haddock is chosen and delivered from Billingsgate every morning. Craig personally selects and sources the best cuts of meat from Spittlesfield which means the quality is always high.
Grocer on the Green – since taking over The Black Horse in 2019, we teamed up with Grocer on the Green for all of our fruit and vegetables. Daily deliveries from our traditional green grocer ensures the quality is outstanding.
Seven Seeded Artisan Bread – our fresh bread baked bread comes in daily (sometimes still warm!), having be made from scratch with love, care and attention.
Dalling & Co – Sommelier Jeff makes sure we are always stocked up with a range of great wines to partner up with our menu. He sources great wines, that cannot be found in any of the big chains.
